We had been dating for exactly a year, and I suspected a romantic marriage proposal might be coming at a romantic dinner and dance Glenn Miller Orchestra event my boyfriend was taking me to.
I noticed after we arrived that the atmosphere there was perfect for a marriage proposal. All the tables were romantically decorated and flowers and balloons surrounded the dance floor. I had never been to a Glenn Miller Orchestra concert before, but as soon as they started singing, you could tell it was going to be romantic.
It was a dance that was scheduled to last several hours. Halfway through the dance, my hope for any kind of romantic proposal started fading. My hopes completely vanished after five hours into the six hour dance had gone by.
It was such a romantic experience, I was not going to let not being proposed to stand in my way of enjoying the evening. About 15-minutes before the dance ended, the perfect song started playing, and my boyfriend held out his hand for me to join him on the dance floor. As we held each other and danced one last time, he gently whispered in my ear one of the sweetest proposals a gal could hope for.
We just celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary together, and I'll have you know, saying yes that night to a marriage proposal I had given up on has been the best decision this young lady has ever made.
