Breathe by Faith Hill holds special meaning for our relationship because it was playing when I was being proposed to.
When I'm lying wrapped up in your arms
The whole world just fades away
The only thing I hear
Is the beating of your heart
We were living on opposite sides of the country for nearly a year in the beginning of our relationship. We would travel monthly to see each other, alternating who was doing the traveling. It was really hard on us.
The love of my life rectified the separation with a home sale in SF and by moving back home to Philadelphia. Our time in San Francisco culminated in a weekend we spent in the Four Seasons Hotel in SF. It was all worked out with the concierge to plan what ultimately turned out to be a marriage proposal.
We arrived and almost immediately went out to do some shopping. What I later learned was that was so the staff could set up the room. What's the first thing I wanted to shop for? A diamond ring. :o) Little did I know, the diamond ring had already been purchased before this shopping trip even began.
When I opened the hotel room door upon our return, immediately Breathe began to play. The room was filled with red rose petals and Scrabble pieces. LOL On the bed was a Scrabble board with the words:
More than all the letters
In all the words
In all the books
In all the world
glued to it. It's something we say to each other and I have said to my son every single night since he was born (14+ years ago!). The Scrabble Board now hangs on our bedroom wall.
Breathe continued to play throughout dinner (until we figured out how to get it off repeat!). Eventually, after they delivered desert, I received my proposal.
We have yet to get married, but I guarantee, Breathe will be a BIG part of it!
