When it comes to wedding anniversary ideas and tips, this has been a favorite of our family.
My wife and I were married on September 11, 1999. This was two years before the tragedy of 09/11 would forever change the world's view of the day.
My wife and I have always made our wedding anniversary special and memorable each year. We just simply believe that what we ELEVATE becomes what we CELEBRATE, so we really try to make this day that celebrates our marriage a big deal.
On our 11th anniversary, though, we decided to really connect the hearts of our children to the specialness of the day.
So, what did we do?
We threw a Promise Party!
What is a promise party?
A promise party is a special way to celebrate the promise that a husband and wife made to each other at their wedding ceremony. It is a way to openly demonstrate to every member of the household that your promise as a couple still stands strong.
Here's how we did it!
I purchased a few party supplies, bought a few decorations, and my wife made a special breakfast for us all to enjoy. As the children all gathered round the table, they could see by the decorations that this was a celebration morning for the family. The kids used food coloring pens to write on plates and decorate their boiled eggs.
They were ready to party!
This special wedding anniversary idea cost less than $15.00 (fifteen dollars) to pull off, and it was an instant hit with the kids. Our darling daughter even said she will have promise parties with her own family someday to celebrate her own marriage.
Here's a short video I produced to show you how this all came together, and to help you better know what you might need to pull this off yourself. Please note you can spend as much as you desire on this idea. How lavish you want it to be is all up to you.
